[img] Monark Silver King Inc. (formerly Monark Battery Co.) was based in Chicago, Illinois. They had a start as a battery manufacturer in first decades of 20th century. In the 1930s they created new bicycle brand, Silver King. Many of their models, like Flocycle or Wingbar, were made of aluminium. They were famous both for light weight and unique art-deco style. The company developed a monthly payment plan, making their purchase a bit more palatable for depression era consumers on a tight budget. Monark continued production into the 1950s.
